Estimate one card
Use your latest outstanding balance and a payment you can make consistently. Choose APR unless your statement explicitly gives a monthly rate.
APR and monthly interest are not interchangeable labels
APR expresses an annualized rate. Dividing it by 12 gives a simplified monthly estimate. Use monthly-rate mode only when your statement or terms explicitly provide that rate.
Why the minimum can feel slow
Interest is added before much of the payment reaches principal. If a ₱100,000 balance accrues about ₱2,000 in simplified monthly interest, a ₱4,000 payment initially reduces principal by only about ₱2,000 before other charges.
Statement balance vs. outstanding balance
The statement balance is captured at the end of a billing cycle. The outstanding balance reflects more recent purchases and payments. Check the issuer's statement for the amount and timing that apply to your goal.
Treat the result as an estimate
Actual finance charges can use average daily balances, posting dates, different rates by transaction type, fees, and lender-specific rounding. Confirm current amounts with the issuer.
Questions people ask next
Is APR divided by 12 always exact?
No. It is a simplified monthly estimate. Many issuers calculate interest from daily balances.
Does paying more always reduce interest?
With a fixed rate, no new charges, and payments applied to principal, paying the balance faster generally reduces later interest. Actual allocation rules still matter.
Why is there no payoff date?
The payment did not clear the balance inside the safety window. Try an amount above estimated monthly interest and verify the required minimum.
